About

We believe opportunity begins with choice.

Father in a Friend supports young people who may lack consistent guidance, mentorship, financial support, or access to opportunity — and we start by asking what they actually want.

Our story

It started with a question.

Father in a Friend began in 2026 with a simple question: what happens when a young person has ambition, but not enough people or resources in their corner?

Plenty of young people in Ghana are not short of drive. What they are short of is a guide, a first opportunity, and someone who takes their plan seriously enough to help pay for it.

The initiative was created to build a bridge between potential and opportunity — and to do it without assuming we already know what a good life looks like for someone else.

We are early. We have run one small cohort. Everything on this site that has already happened is described in the past tense, and everything we intend to build is clearly labelled as a plan.

Our mission

To create a community of mentorship and practical support that helps young people make informed choices and pursue education, vocational training, entrepreneurship, and meaningful work.

Our vision

A future where a young person’s circumstances do not determine how many choices they have.

Our values

Five things we hold to.

01

Agency

We listen before deciding how to help.

02

Dignity

No honest path toward independence is inferior to another.

03

Consistency

Mentorship should be a relationship, not a one-time intervention.

04

Community

Opportunity becomes stronger when people support one another.

05

Growth

Those helped today can become the mentors and opportunity-creators of tomorrow.

Why Ghana first

It is where our founders’ roots, relationships and understanding are. Trust is built locally before it is built at scale.
